The San Jose Rhinos played in the Roller Hockey International (RHI) league from 1994 to 1999. The Rhinos played at the San Jose Arena, now SAP Center. The Rhinos won the Murphy Cup championship in 1994-95 season, defeating the Montreal Roadrunners.
Their all-time points leader was Mark Woolf, who had 335 points (158 goals, 177 assists). He played all five seasons for the Rhinos. The Rhinos coach Roy Sommer, went on to coach the San Jose Barracuda, of the AHL.

The San Jose Rhinos colors were gold, purple and black. The 1995 team, and Coach Roy Sommer, were celebrated by the San Jose Barracuda in a 2026 game. The Barracuda wore throwback Rhinos uniforms.
