The San Jose Diablos were a co-ed volleyball team that played at San Jose Civic from 1979 to 1980 in the International Volleyball Association. Led by Brazilian two-time Olympic (’64 & ’68) volleyball player Carlos Feitosa the team played one full season in 1979 but the league folded before the mid-season all-star game in 1980.
The Diablos finished the first season with the second worst record in the league at 13-27. The 1979 IVA all-star game was held at the Diablos home venue, San Jose Civic.
Notable Diablos were native Hawaiian and BYU alumnae Angie Andrade-Morioka and Don Shaw, who went on to win several national titles in both men’s and women’s volleyball coaching at Stanford.
