SAP Center hosted the Valkyries and Lynx in the first ever home playoff game for the Bay Are’s new WNBA team.

Following a 28-18 season the Valkyries made their playoff debut behind coach Natalie Nakase, who played for the defunct WNBL’s San Jose Spiders.

Due to a scheduling conflict at Chase Center, the Valkyries home arena, SAP Center in San Jose was chosen to host game 2 of the series against the Minnesota Lynx.

Going into the game after a loss in Minnesota, the Valkyries hoped to even the series at 1 and 1. However following a 17-point lead the Valkyries collapsed, losing 74-73 to end their inaugural season.

San Jose has been home to two other professional women’s basketball teams, including the San Jose Lasers and the San Jose Spiders.
